Follow in the footsteps of one of the world's greatest artists, Italian painter Michaelangelo Merisi da Caravaggio. Born in 1571, Caravaggio worked in Rome, Naples, Malta, and Sicily between 1593 and 1610 and had a formative influence on Baroque painting. We begin our exploration of his tumultuous life and remarkable art in Rome, where highlights include a private tour of a palazzo with the only Caravaggio fresco in existence. In Naples, enjoy a special lunch and viewing of the artist's last painting at Palazzo Zevallos. We will also attend a private Baroque concert in Naples, and we will admire extraordinary works by Botticelli, Mantegna, El Greco, and Titian on a curator-led tour of the Museum of Capodimonte. Fly to Malta to view a Caravaggio masterpiece at St. John's Co-Cathedral, and attend a farewell reception at a splendid 16th-century palazzo.
